KJCCC Baseball East Division Players of the Week - Week 14
COLBY, Kan. – Finishing the regular season with a four-game sweep to clinch their third-straight Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East Division title, the Johnson County Community College baseball team was led by the final KJCCC East Division Baseball Players of the Week Carter Kelley and Josiah Golden.
Carter Kelley – Johnson County (KJCCC Baseball East Division Player of the Week)
Carter Kelley was a one-man wrecking crew in Johnson County's series sweep over Fort Scott last week, particularly in the final doubleheader of the regular season. In the road doubleheader against the Greyhounds, Kelley was 5-for-8 with four home runs, five runs scored, and seven RBI. In the first two games the day before, Kelley had three hits, including a triple, and drove in four runs. For the series, the sophomore hit .571 (8-for-14) with five extra-base hits, six runs scored, and 11 RBI.
Josiah Golden – Johnson County (KJCCC Baseball East Division Pitcher of the Week)
Josiah Golden became the all-time victory leader in Johnson County baseball history with his 20th victory last Thursday afternoon in a 10-0 win over Fort Scott. The sophomore right-hander scattered four hits and walked two as part of a five-inning shutout with four strikeouts. The win allowed Golden to improve to 10-2 on the season and became the first pitcher to post two 10-win seasons in program history. Golden also tied a career record making his 29th start in a Cavalier uniform.
