(KJCCC) April 14, 2021 – Big-time plays and days by our conference athletes that lead to recognition in Week 10 of the KJCCC Athletes of the Week voting.
Football Athletes of the Week
CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
C.J. Ogbonna - Hutchinson
Hutchinson quarterback C.J. Ogbonna threw for a career high four touchdowns in the No. 1 Blue Dragons' 48-8 victory over Arkansas Baptist. Ogbonna also threw for a career-best 188 yards on 12 of 22 passing.
CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brock Domann - Independence
Quarterback Brock Domann accounted for 160 total yards and four touchdowns in Independence's rout of Fort Scott. Domann completed 8 of 11 pass for 111 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 49 yards and a score.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Exzavieus Roberson - Garden City
Garden City defensive back Exzavieus Roberson was part of a defensive effort on Saturday that limited Highland to minus-12 rushing yards and six first downs. Roberson had a 57-yard interception return for a touchdown and a fumble recovery in the end zone following Keylon Kennedy's spectacular chase down of Raequan Prince in the third quarter to preserve the shutout.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Caleb Brickhouse - Hutchinson
Hutchinson Community College Community College freshman punter Caleb Brickhouse averaged 49.3 yards per punt on three kicks on Sunday in a 48-8 win over Arkansas Baptist.
Division I Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week
Player: Melissa Siegel (KCK)
Melissa had a total of 3 goals and 3 assists this week during 3 wins. She was a key player in our attack producing many good goal scoring opportunities.
Goalkeeper: Suzie Lopez (KCK)
Suzie made good saves and good decision making as she had 3 shutouts wins this week.
Division II Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week
Player: Dot Usher (Allen)
Dot started off with the two first goals of the season and hasn't looked back. She continues to be the consistent play maker her team looks to. She can score from range outside the 18 off set pieces or she can be clinical off volley's inside the box. Her two goals were the game winning goals vs central.
Goalkeeper: Phoenix Michaelis (Allen)
Phoenix is a goal keeper that commands the whole box, she great with her feet, an excellent drop pass option. She came up with two breakaways stops during the central game to keep a shot out. She is brave off her line and organizes the back line very well.
Division I Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week
Red Raven sophomore forward Connor Pugh had an outstanding week for Coffeyville as he was the spark that propelled the Ravens over the #14 ranked Cavaliers of Johnson County. Against the Cavaliers, Pugh exploded for 3 goals and an assist in the 7-1 victory. Pushing Coffeyville to three wins on the week, Pugh ended the week with 4 goals and and assist for 9 points.
Red Raven freshman goal keeper Dominic Bombourg had a dominating week in goal for Coffeyville. In a total of 244 minutes over three games, Bombourg only allowed 1 goal. Bombourg's highlight for the week was allowing only 1 goal to #14 ranked JCCC in his first collegiate start in a 7-1 victory.
Division II Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week
Hesston freshman goalkeeper Aiden McGonagle recorded 16 saves and finished with a perfect save percentage as he allowed no goals in their two matches this week. Aidan continued his hot start to his college career as he helped their Larks go 2-0 on the week.

Division I Softball Athletes of the Week
Player: Madison Grimes (Hutchinson)
The second-leading hitter in the NJCAA hit .636 in four Blue Dragon wins for the week. Madison Grimes went 7 for 11 with two doubles, a triple and home run. Grimes drove on nine runs and scored nine. She was also 5 of 5 on stolen bases. Grimes is currently on an eight-game hitting streak. Grimes is second in the NJCAA with .578 batting average. She is 10th in the nation on on-base percentage at .606.
Pitcher: Jordan Galliher (Hutchinson)
Hutchinson Community College starting pitcher Jordan Galliher twirled her second career no-hitter and put together a streak of eight consecutive innings without allowing a hit in a 2-0 week last week. Galliher no-hit Northwest Tech with a five-inning 8-0 victory. Galliher struck out a career-high 11 batters in her gem. Galliher then pitched a perfect top of the seventh in a Game 2 win over Tech. Her first two innings against Garden City were hitless as well before allowing a double in the third. Galliher for the season is now 8-2 with a 5.20 ERA. She has 75 strikeouts in 68 2-3 innings pitches.
Division II Softball Athletes of the Week
KJCCC Division II Softball Player of the Week
Kayla McClellan, Cowley College Freshman Utility Player, Tulsa, OK - Freshman Kayla McClellan batted .500 with 12 runs batted in as No. 19-ranked Cowley went 4-2 on the week. McClellan went 11-of-22 with three doubles, three stolen bases and seven runs scored.
KJCCC Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week
Ashlyn Mercer, Cowley College Sophomore Pitcher, Tonkawa, OK - Cowley sophomore Ashlyn Mercer had a dominating week on the mound for the Lady Tigers. Mercer went 3-0 with 31 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings. She allowed only four earned runs and walked only four batters in the three starts.
Baseball Athlete of the Week
Bryce Zimmerer, sophomore left fielder from Creighton, NE, helped the Butler Grizzlies to the four-game series sweep over Dodge City last week batting .588 on the week. Zimmerer scored 10 runs and drove in seven on the week hitting three extra base hits with a double, triple and a homerun. Zimmerer was also a threat on the base path as he stole six bags last week and has 15 on the season.
J'Briell Easley, Cowley freshman right-hander, tossed a seven-inning no-hitter against Coffeyville, allowing just one base runner with a walk He also struck out eight batters. For the season, Easley is 6-0 with 37 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched.
