KJCCC Conference Athletes of the Week, Week 17, 2021
(KJCCC) May 19, 2021 – Big-time plays and high-performance days by our conference athletes have led to recognition in Week 17 of the KJCCC Athletes of the Week voting. Congrats to all these winners cited below. Some seasons have already concluded, or are in playoffs.
Football Athletes of the Week
OFFENSE
DYLAN LAIBLE, Hutchinson
Blue Dragon freshman quarterback Dylan Laible threw for five touchdown passes as No. 1 Hutchinson completed an undefeated regular season and won the KJCCC championship with a 70-14 win over Dodge City on Sunday at Gowans Stadium. Laible threw for touchdowns of 78, 62, 9, 22 and 28 yards in just a little over two quarters of playing time. Laible was part of a season-high 612-yard total offensive output. Since jumping into the starting lineup, Laible is completing 59.5 percent of his passes for 631 yards. He's thrown the ball only 42 times and 11 have been for touchdowns.

DEFENSE
ELIJAH DERAVIL, Garden City
Making his first career start, Elijah Deravil had two interceptions in Garden City's 20-0 shutout victory over Coffeyville. He was part of a defensive effort that limited the Red Ravens to just 55 total yards through three quarters.

SPECIAL TEAMS
EMMANUEL MANN, Hutchinson
With Dodge City kicking away from other Blue Dragon return specialists, Emmanuel Mann took advantage and grabbed a short kickoff and returned it 83 yards for a touchdown in No. 1 Hutchinson's 70-14 victory over the Conquistadors. Mann's return immediately answered Dodge City's first score of the game midway through the third quarter.
Division I Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week
Felipe D'Agostini netted three goals for the week while adding an assist to his name in a 2-0 week for the Barton Cougars. D'Agostini found the nets once and tallied an assist in Barton's 4-1 comfortable victory over Garden City. In Saturday's key matchup with #3 Cowley the sophomore provided the equalizer before rattling the nets for the eventual game winner just five minutes later in the 3-1 upset win over the Tigers.
Yuki Nishigaki coordinated a stout defensive line this past week helping 19th ranked Barton to a 3-1 upset victory over #3 Cowley. The lone goal allowed came on a penalty shot while the net finder rejected the lone other shot faced as the Cougar back line was superb.
Division I Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week
Player: Dahien Cabrera (Barton)
Dahien Cabrera rattled the net four times, for the week helping Barton to a 2-0 mark including an upset 3-2 win over 13th ranked Cowley. Cabrera started her week recording a hat trick in a 8-1 rout over Garden City. In Saturday's upset victory over Cowley, the freshman from Miramar, FL struck home the game winner in the 74th minute capping an 8-point week.
Goalkeeper: Olivia Ways (Johnson County)
Johnson County sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Ways picked up two wins last week. She opened the week with a shared shutout in a 4-0 win at Neosho County. She capped the week with a full shutout victory over Butler. Ways stopped all four shots she faced. For the season, Ways stands 6-4-0 and ranks fifth in the conference with 51 saves, and her .750 save percentage is tied for fourth.
