Monroe Drops Home Opener to #6 Butler

Rochester, NY.- Monroe Community College women's soccer team kicked off their season opener at home lastnight vs the #6 Butler Grizzlies in a Title IX, Women Supporting Women game. Monroe placed #12 in the NJCAA DI Preseason Poll that came out earlier this week. The match went scoreles the first 27 minutes of the games, but Butler swooped in to get their first goal and from there two more came in leaving the Tribunes behind. The game finished with a 3-0 loss for Monroe. They start out 0-1 on the season while the Grizzlies gain their first win, 1-0.
Game Highlights:
Freshman, Juliet Marino (Hornell, NY) made her first college debut in goal for the Tribunes finishing with seven saves.
Kenzee Godwin, Kaitlin Erwin and Joy Ngibuini all scored for Butler.
MCC will be back in action this Sunday at home when they welcome the #9 Iowa Western Reivers at 12 pm.
