
The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's soccer team (2-0) defeated the Highland Community College Scotties (0-2), 14-0 Aug. 24 at the Kansas City Kansas Community College Soccer Field. The Blue Devil women's soccer program has never finished a game with double digit goals in the past 10 seasons.
There were 11 goals in the first half alone of Saturday night's game. Laura Ginguene started the scoring off with a free kick from distance in the fifth minute. Amelie Max finished a cross from Cora Ellermann in the eighth minute to double the lead. Sierra Montez recorded her second multi-goal game in her KCKCC career by slotting in three goals in the 13th, 16th and 24th minutes. Jaycee Schumann netted her first goal on the season just one minute after Montez's last goal in the 24th minute. Both Kiara Carr, Lillian Chronister, Ariana Smith and Ivori Jones recorded their first goal as a Blue Devil in the 27th, 37th, 39th and 42nd minute to wrap up the 11-goal half. After a full year in her KCKCC uniform, Trinity Wheeler scored her first goal in the 56th minute, followed by a second goal from Jones from just inside the box in the 63rd minute. Jennifer Vasquez would finish up the scoring in the 82nd minute. Both Maria Heuman and Lena Wasow played a half each in the goal and kept a clean sheet.
The next game for the Blue Devils women's soccer team is a conference opener against the Seward County Community College Saints at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kan.
