Men's Basketball picked up their first conference win at home on Saturday 82-81. Tech was (0-1) in conference play coming into the game, having lost to Cloud County earlier in the week. The Mavs held the lead for most of the game, with Pratt only coming within one point on a 3-pointer at the end of the game.
In the first half, Taiden Conner did most of the scoring with 10 of those points coming from the free throw line. Both teams were 13-30 in made field goals at the half. In the second half, Ethan Yancy was the top scorer with 15 points and shooting 3-5 from beyond the arc. The real difference makers in the game were Taiden Conner on the offensive end, knocking down 15 of 17 free throws, along Arthur Celestin's physical rebounding and scoring in the paint. Then on the defensive end, with Tech holding the leading 3-point shooter in the conference, Sterling Young, to only 8 points and getting 18 points off of 16 turnovers.
Postgame Comments from Coach Bradley
While the game ended much closer than it should of for the Mavs, a win is still a win, and when it comes to conference play, we'll take what we can. The Mavs next game will be this Tuesday at Butler Community College.
