
FHNW 4x800m Relay Places 5th at Outdoor Nationals
Hutchinson, KS—Fort Hays Tech Northwest Track & Field competed at the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The men's team tied for 29th place with 4 points after the 4x800m relay's 5th-place finish.
Individual Results:
In the men's 800 meters, Salisu Habibu placed 41st with a time of 1:59.71, and Maciej Bachlaj placed 43rd with a time of 2:00.53.
In the men's 1500 meters, Sibonokuhle Thwala placed 10th, with a time of 3:49.80. Luck Maila also competed, finishing 27th with a time of 4:04.50.
Relay Results:
In the men's 4x800 meter relay, Fort Hays Tech Northwest crushed their previous record of 7:48.26 by nearly 14 seconds, placing 5th, with a time of 7:34.45. The relay started with Salisu Habibu, then Lucky Maila as the second leg, Kamogelo Thipe as the third, and Sibonokuhle Thwala as the anchor.
With the outdoor track & field season at a close, FHNW athletics will take a break for the summer and look to prepare for incoming student-athletes in August.
