
The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team beat the Coffeyville Red Ravens in both games, 5-0 and 8-1, at the KCKCC baseball field. The Blue Devils are currently tied for fifth place with Fort Scott in the conference with a KJCCC record of 7-7. They will take on Fort Scott April 10 and 12.
In the first game, the Blue Devil leadoff batter, Marcus Dierks, went 2-4 at the plate as he tallied three RBIs and scored two times. Both Tanner Pachorek and Frankie Santiago had two hits each as they combined for one run, one RBI and one walk. Pachorek had the only extra base hit for KCKCC as he recorded his fifth double of the season.
Bryson Vawter went the distance while allowing no runs from the three Red Raven hits. He struck out eight of the 26 batters he faced.
For the second game, the Blue Devils put together nine hits and managed to get walked nine times. Three of those walks went to Santiago as he went 0-2 from the plate but scored two of the three times that he got walked. Cade Parry had three RBIs as he hit his third home run on the season. Freddie Nolen IV and Pachorek were responsible for the four other RBI as they had two each. Nolen IV had a double and went 2-3 from the plate. Pachorek went 2-4 at the plate with two singles.
Gavin Killion threw for the first six of the nine innings while allowing just one run from three hits. He struck out six of the 23 batters he faced and walked just one batter. Caden Howell was up next as he didn't allow a single hit in the seventh inning. He walked two and struck out two. Jake Titus threw in the eighth inning while walking one batter and striking out two. Dylan Blazer finished the game off while not allowing a hit in the ninth inning completing the two-game sweep.
