Broncbuster men score opening-day victory in Nebraska

Beatrice, NE-Corey Bryant couldn't have asked for a better start. 

Sophomore returner William Jackson netted three goals, Bruno Graessner recorded five saves, and Garden City opened the 2023 regular season with a 5-2 victory over Southeast College on Thursday afternoon. 

In a physical battle that saw six yellow cards handed out, the Broncbusters took control early. Haru Toshikuni scored on an overhead kick off Noel Williamson's tremendous cross in the first minute of action. Cristobal Sanchez then followed with a goal in the 14^th minute, beating the Storm keeper in a one-on-one battle for a 2-0 lead. Then it was Jackson, capping the first-half scoring when he fought through a scramble before sending a rocket into the back of the net. 

In the second period, Jackson struck again in transition thanks to Soulo Letsoalo, who sent a cross into the box that the sophomore easily deposited for his second goal of the day. He completed the hat trick in the 87^thminute, scoring off a deflected ball in the box. 

Garden City outshot Southeast 12-11.
