Track and Field Season Comes to an End for Grizzlies at NJCAA Outdoor Championships

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Butler Community College track and field program completed its 2025 season on Saturday at the NJCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships at Gowans Stadium.

The Grizzly men placed 22nd out of 37 competing squads with 10 points. South Plains (119 points) won the men's title with New Mexico JC (96 points) and Iowa Western (83 points) rounding out the top three. Hutchinson was the top finishing men's school from the Jayhawk coming in seventh.

The Butler women finished in 34th out of 37 teams with three points. Iowa Western (98 points) won the women's title, followed by Barton (90.33 points) in second and New Mexico JC (84 points) in third.

Butler totaled seven All-Americans in the Outdoor season with six men and one female All-American nod. The full list can be found below.

Emmanuel Otim (3:48.05) and Itumeleng Ngxabazi (3:48.55) turned in top-10 finishes in the 1500m with Otim in seventh and Ngxabazi in ninth. Otim also finished ninth in the 5000m (14:52.86).

In the men's 3000m steeplechase, Kamohelo Ramatsebe finished sixth with a time of 9:09.46.

The men's 4x800m relay team of Otim, Ngxabazi, Ramatsebe and Ainsley Campbell finished fourth for an All-American finish of 7:31.18.

Elizabeth Hernandez scored the lone points for the Grizzly women with an All-American run in the 10,000m (37:24.62) finishing in sixth.

The end of the season wraps up head coach Mark Emerson's first year as head coach.
