COLBY, Kan. - The Colby Community College Baseball Program finished their season falling to Fort Scott Community College in the first round of the Region VI playoffs 2-1. The Trojans won the first game 14-3, fell in game two 8-4, and lost game three 11-1.
Game 1:
On May 7, 2025, Colby delivered an impressive performance against Fort Scott at Young Park, securing a decisive 14-3 victory. The Trojans showcased their prowess on the field, outmatching Fort Scott in both offense and defense.
The game commenced with a scoreless first inning, but Colby quickly gained momentum in the second inning, scoring four runs. They continued their offensive onslaught in the third inning, adding six more runs to the scoreboard. Fort Scott responded with a single run in the third inning and two more in the fifth, but it was not enough to halt Colby's dominance. Colby sealed their victory with additional runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Turner Zdunich was a standout player for Colby, going 4-for-5 with six RBIs, including a home run and a double. Isaiah Padilla also made significant contributions, hitting a home run and driving in three runs. Gavin Galenza and Raphael Ranger each added to the team's tally with key doubles and RBIs. Pitcher Tyler Smith earned the win, pitching five innings with seven strikeouts and allowing only three earned runs.

Fort Scott set the pace early, scoring four runs in the first inning, which laid the foundation for their victory. Despite a solid effort from Colby, who managed to score in the third, fifth, and eighth innings, they could not overcome Fort Scott's consistent performance.
Colby's performance was highlighted by C. Langford, who contributed with a double and an RBI, and R. Ranger, who hit a home run. Despite these efforts, errors, coupled with missed opportunities, hampered Colby's ability to close the gap.
This event tied the Trojans in the series 1-1.
Game 3:
On May 9, 2025, the Colby Community College Baseball team fell to Fort Scott Community College, 11-1, ending their 2024-2025 season in the first round of the regional playoffs.
The game began with Colby taking an early lead, scoring their sole run in the first inning. However, Fort Scott responded in the third inning with a run and then again in the fourth inning, scoring five runs to take a commanding lead. They continued to add to their tally with three runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth inning.
The Colby Trojans struggled both offensively and defensively. Despite collecting nine hits, they were unable to capitalize and left several runners on base. The team also committed four errors, which contributed to their downfall.
This loss ended the three-game series 2-1, putting Colby's 2024-2025 season to an end. The Colby Trojans ended their season 31-27 overall and 17-15 in conference play.
