Broncbusters fall in three at Butler
El Dorado, KS-Avery Delong posted 10 kills, Anja Milosevic had 29 assists, and Butler beat Garden City in three sets, 22-25, 21-25, 19-25 Wednesday night at the Power Plant.
Julia Brazil had eight kills and two aces for the Broncbusters, which fell to 8-5 overall and 2-2 in league play. They also saw their three-game winning streak snapped.
After leading late in the first set, Garden City went cold at the worst time. Butler ripped off five of the final six points capped by Sarah Sullivan's kill down the line that put the Grizzlies up, 1-0.
The two teams went back and forth in the second, with neither team gaining much of an advantage until late when Delong ended a long rally by powering home a kill on set point.
In the third, the Grizzlies broke open an 11-11 tie with a 9-3 run to open up a six-point cushion. After the Broncbusters pulled back within three, Butler scored the final three points to end the match.
Andrea Djordjevic had five kills, and Gaby Santos added three kills in the losing effort.
Milosevic recorded 14 digs for the Grizzlies, who improved to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in the Jayhawk.
