Arkansas City, KS-Corey Bryant will be kicking himself after this one.
After taking a 2-0 lead on the home team, Cowley stormed back, eventually getting the go-ahead goal from Sara Espinosa in the 83rd minute as the Tigers stunned Garden City, 3-2 on Sunday afternoon. The loss dropped the Broncbusters to 2-1-1 overall.
Garden City went toe-to-toe with unbeaten Cowley, scoring two minutes into the match when Jessica Newton's corner kick was redirected to the top of the box where Noelie Prat was in the right place at the right time. The freshman sent a rocket into the top left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.
In the 22nd minute, the Broncbusters struck again. Samantha Medina beat goalie, Marin Peoples in a one-on-one matchup for a 2-0 advantage.
But Cowley got right back into it in the 29th minute when Lea Evin sent a cross into the box that Lucia Rivas deposited to get the Tigers on the board. Then, 26 seconds into the second half, Nanaka Inaba scored the equalizer.
The match remained tied until the 83rd minute. Newton was called for a yellow card setting up a free kick from about 30 yards out. On the shot, Broncbuster goalie Ava Wilson got her hands on the ball to knock it away, but Espinosa was right there to parlay the deflection into the go-ahead goal.
Cowley outshot Garden City, 14-12. Wilson had three saves.
