February 9

Records continue to fall, National qualify marks continue to be earned and personal bests continued to put forth by the Highland track and field team during the Indoor season and the Northwest Missouri Bearcat Open was full of that over the weekend.

A pair of school records and a facility record paced the Scotties on the weekend along with three new National qualifying marks. While 31 personal best performances were had by the Scotties on the weekend.

Mookie Rolle had a big weekend as he posted a time of 1:57.36 breaking the school record in the 800 meter run, while qualifying for Nationals. He placed overall 25th in the race which was the first time he had ran the 800 this season. Rolle also along with Joshua Camp, Deiondre Williams and Jean Dieuvil are headed to Nationals as part of the 4x800 meter relay team who with a composite time of 7:53.50 qualified for Nationals.

That wasn't it for Camp on the weekend as he joined Rolle in the 800 meter run and with a time of 1:57.97 earned a spot at Nationals and nearly broke the school record, too, while placing 28th overall.

Also on the guys side of competition Jye Gillard continues to impress in the 400 meter dash as he won the event with a time of 48.13 to improve his National qualifying time and also break the Hughes Fieldhouse facility record at Nortwest Missouri State.

In the women's competition Jessica Monroe continued to leap to great heights in the high jump. After tying the school Indoor record earlier this season Monroe now owns it herself posting a leap of 5'07.75 to take second place at the meet and improve her National qualify mark. Her leap is the best in all of NJCAA this Indoor season.
