Baseball Winless in Fort Scott

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team lost both games to the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds April 12 with scores of 4-3 and 11-2. Both teams are now 9-11 in conference play, tied for fourth place in the East Division standings. Ahead of them are Cowley (20-4), Johnson County (20-4) and Coffeyville (15-9).

In the first game, the Blue Devils were leading 3-1 after the third inning but were unable to finish the game out as they allowed three Greyhound runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk off the Blue Devils. Both Ian Woita and Freddie Nolen IV had one hit and one RBI each. Sawyer Tolk, Braden Horn and Tanner Pachorek were responsible for scoring the three runs. Marcus Dierks was the only Blue Devil to have multiple hits as he led the team off with two hits.

Caleb Reed threw for the first 4.2 innings allowing just one hit from two hits. One of those two hits was a solo home run in the second inning. He walked two batters and struck out three of the 20 batters that he faced. Gavin Killion recorded the loss while throwing for the final two innings allowing three runs in the final inning from five hits and one walk. He walked one and allowed a home run.

For the second game, KCKCC only had two hits on the game while scoring two runs. Those hits came from Dierks and Pachorek. Both the Blue Devil runs came from batters who were walked, Nolen IV and Spenser Smock.

There were five pitchers who entered the game for KCKCC. Woita started the game and only went for one inning as he allowed four runs from six hits and two home runs. Dylan Blazer entered the game in the second inning and allowed just one run from four hits in his four innings of work. Carter Beach, Caden Howell and Tanner Warner finished the game out throwing for an inning each. They combined for six runs, one earned run, five walks and three hits. 

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the North Central Missouri Pirates at 1 p.m. April 15 at the KCKCC baseball field.
