The Central Community College softball team lost both games of a double-header at Cloud County Community College on Saturday. A recap of both games is below. The Raiders are 4-8 on the season and will be back in action with a double-header on Sunday against Southwestern (Iowa) Community College. Game times are set for 1 and 3 p.m. at Raider Field. CCC's double-header against North Platte Community College, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been moved to Monday, March 14.
Game 1: Cloud County Community College 5 Central Community College 3
The Thunderbirds built a 5-0 lead on the strength of four runs in the fourth inning. The Raiders scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to pull to within two runs, but that's as close as they got and CCCC posted the 5-3 victory. Emma Lees, Caroline Riffer and Kinsley Wimmer scored for CCC while Kailee Pollard pitched four innings before taking the loss.
Game 2: Cloud County Community College 11 Central Community College 3 (six innings)
The Raiders fell behind 5-1 after three innings en route to an 11-3 loss in six innings. Katie Paczosa, Riffer and Wimer scored the CCC runs while Andrea Fernandez and Pollard each recorded an RBI. Payten Gibson took the loss.
"Obviously, the outcomes were not what we wanted, but that was the most fight we've shown all year," said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon. "We are staring to find our way and now we need to get the bats alive again to start winning some games."
