Volleyball: Cowley Invitational Tournament Recap

The Central Community College volleyball team went 0-3 at the Cowley Invitational Tournament in Kansas over the weekend. A brief recap of each match is below. CCC is now 8-11 on the season and will be back in action on Wednesday at home against the University of Nebraska-Kearney JV. The Raiders and the Lopers will get underway at 7 p.m. at the Raider Fieldhouse.

Match 1 vs. Carl Sandburg (Ill) College

The Chargers outlasted the Raiders in five sets to take the opening round victory. CCC won the first set, 25-23, followed by a 25-18 Sandburg win in the second set. The Chargers took the third set, 26-24, before the Raiders won in dramatic fashion in the fourth set, 34-32. Sandburg took the match with a 15-13 victory in the fifth set.

Morgan Juranek totaled a dozen kills, followed by Rachel Otten with 11. Kamryn Chohon dished out 53 assists. Chloe Odbert finished with 36 digs.

Match 2 vs. Cisco (Tex.) College

The Wranglers shut out the Raiders, 3-0, to close out the first day of competition. The final scores were 25-19, 25-21 and 25-16.

Ashley Brown led the Raiders with seven kills, while Chohon totaled 21 assists. Odbert tallied with 22 digs.

Match 3 vs. Cowley (Kan.) College

For the second time in a week, the Tigers shut out the Raiders. The final scores read 25-10, 25-7 and 25-12.

Otten posted six kills, while Chohon totaled 10 assists and six digs.
