Tiger track and field teams open outdoor season at Beaver Classic
Fresh off top-10 national finishes at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships, the Cowley College men and women’s track and field teams opened the outdoor track and field season on Saturday at Pratt Community College’s new track and field event areas.

The Tiger women were led by its throws group, with sophomore Kayla Noear placing second in the shot put and Caitlin Mannon finishing third in the hammer throw. Lady Tiger pole vaulter Kassidy Blann also performed well and placed third.
Sophomore Matt Higdon placed fifth in the hammer throw to lead the Tiger men, while fellow sophomore Jack Mull placed in the top-10 in a pair of events.
"We had some good performances for the first outdoor meet," Cowley head coach Mark Phillips said. "We had several people already get close to a NJCAA National Outdoor qualifying time/distance."
Cloud County placed first out of 16 teams at the meet on both the men and women's side.
The Cowley track and field teams will now prepare to host the Cowley Tiger Invite Saturday at 11 a.m.
