Northeastern Softball Splits The Four Game Series With Seward County Community College After Winning The Final Game 11-8

Northeastern Softball split the weekend series with Seward County Community College after winning the final game 11-8. Reina Roberts was named the DDC Player of the Contest. Roberts went 2-2 in the contest, recording three runs batted in, scoring two runs and having 100% on base percentage thanks to a walk and hit by pitch. 

A steal of home by Blayke Duncan put Northeastern on the board in the top of the first inning. Northeastern committed an error that helped Seward County tie the game up in the bottom of the first. SCCC then took the lead in the bottom of the third thanks to three singles to push the score to 3-1. The Plainswomen tied the game up in the top of the fourth thanks to a walk by Ryann Eurich, and a single by Roberts. A single by Addison Steele gave Northeastern the lead 5-3 in the top of the fifth inning. SCCC then tied it up once again in the bottom of the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth inning, Northeastern took the lead back after Hallie Waldron scored after tagging up, and Duncan stole home, each scoring one run. SCCC once again tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth. In the top of the seventh inning, the Plainswomen broke the tie when Waldron doubled, scoring three runs. Then an error followed to extend the lead to 11-7. SCCC scored one run in the bottom of the seventh, but then grounded out to give Northeastern the win 11-8.

Maddie Cline earned the win for Northeastern. Cline went 6 innings, giving up 7 runs (four earned) on 11 hits, walking three and striking out one. Mackenzie Bowie earned the save for Northeastern. Bowie had one inning of work, giving up one unearned run on two walks and stroke out one batter. Tatiana Hunt and Steele were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits. Waldron and Steele each drove in two runs for the Plainswomen. Duncan stole two bases and the team overall stole four bases. 

The Plainswomen will be back in action again on Friday the 21st, as they travel down to Paris Junior College in Texas.
