OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 21-ranked Johnson County softball team opened the 2025 postseason with a 9-1 victory over Fort Scott in the first round of the NJCAA Region 6 Division II Tournament.

Sophomore first baseman Aspen Burgardt, the reigning NJCAA D-II Player of the Year, went 3-for-3 with two doubles to drive in two runs for the Cavaliers.

Freshman outfielder Katie Kolarik belted a two-run home run and second baseman Jaylee Jefferson, third baseman Reagen Neitzel, catcher Maddie Murray, outfielder Hayley Bryant and DP Lily Hans each drove in one run.

Sophomore right-hander Jalin Lavers earned the complete-game victory allowing one run off two hits, four walks while striking out six over six innings.  It was Lavers' 13^th complete game of the season and 14^th victory.

Johnson County will face Allen in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m., on Tuesday, May 7. The No. 7 seeded Red Devils upset No. 2 Neosho County 6-5in their opening round.
