No. 6-ranked Tiger track and field teams host meet
With both Cowley College’s men and women’s indoor track and field teams currently ranked sixth in the latest poll, the teams hosted four other Jayhawk Conference schools in a meet in Arkansas City on Saturday.

Both the Tiger men and women's team had four first place finishes. The highlight of the meet was sophomore Jeff Thawinitkul winning the men's pole vault by clearing a national qualifying mark of 14-1 ¼.
"We were very proud of our teams," Cowley head coach Mark Phillips said. "They did a great job of hosting the meet and it was a bonus to get Jeff qualified for nationals in the pole vault."
Other Tiger men to place first were, Diego Andres-Dugan in the 60-meter hurdles, Richard Whatley Jr. in the 600-meter run, and Dawson Crawley in the 1,000-meter run.
Lady Tiger event winners were, Lubna Suied in the mile run, Zinara Lesley in the 1,000-meter run, Kassidy Blann in the pole vault, and Chloe Wilson in the weight throw.
Cowley will take several distance runners to compete at Washburn University on Saturday, while the field event athletes are staying to compete in a home meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. The home meet will consist of the pole vault, high jump, shot put and weight throw all inside the Travis Hafner Training Center.
