The wait is over! After having its first five matches of the spring season either postponed or cancelled, the No. 5-ranked Cowley College women's tennis team opened play with a 7-2 loss at NCAA Division II powerhouse University of Central Oklahoma.
The Bronchos are currently ranked No. 8 in NJCAA Division II.
"UCO is a very good team, probably the toughest team on our schedule this year," Cowley head coach Manuel Raga said. "I thought our girls went out there and played hard."
The Lady Tigers got victories from Andrea Rodriguez at No. 6 singles and also the No. 3 doubles team of Rodriguez and Ane Ibarra.
Cowley will face another tough opponent when they take on NCAA Division II Northwest Missouri State University Friday at 8 a.m. in St. Joseph, MO.
