Hounds Fall to Highland

The Fort Scott Community College women's basketball team saw their season end on Monday after a 65-51 loss to Highland Community College in the first round of the Region VI tournament.  The loss dropped the FSCC season record to 5-11 for the shortened season.

The Hounds had a difficult time getting shots to drop against the tough Scotties defense as they shot 32% from the field and 17% from 3-point range.  Leiken Walker led the Hounds with 20 points and 7 rebounds.  Amber Covington (11) and Taylor Tschirhart (10) also hit double digits in points for FSCC.

Anchoring HCC on the night was Gerenda Smith (18pts/11reb) and Marina Perez (15pts/12reb).  Highland will go on to face Johnson County Community College this Wednesday in Overland Park, KS.   Coach Alexander and Coach Batch will now hit the road looking for the next class of Hounds to add to the strong freshman class.
