Scotties Earn 15th Win of the Season

September 22

The Highland volleyball team hosted the University of Saint Mary JV out of Leavenworth, KS on a Friday night non-conference match up. The 3-0 quick match the Scotties took over the Spires will bring high momentum heading into Monday's conference match up over #5 Coffeyville (15-1, 4-0) and Wednesday's match-up against Labette (5-11, 0-3).

The first set brought nothing but domination from the Scotties side of the court with the team recording 14 kills while Katie Pearson dropped down five kills. Sophomores Zealia Kleitz and Leslie Polanco took control of the second set putting down 12 kills between the two of them and the team picked up a massive 21 digs led by libero Kirston Johnson. The final set brought nothing but big numbers for the Scotties consistently with 14 team kills and 22 digs led by Koie Orozco.

Pearson continues to build on her set assists each recording 31 tonight while also adding in seven service aces. Polanco led on offense with 17 kills to help her continue to lead the KJCCC. Kleitz put down nine kills and Carrie Fisher came in to put down three kills, one service ace, and one dig. Johnson controlled the defense picking up 15 digs followed by Orozco with 12. Ashley Stevenson and Lexi Schwalm took ahold of their opportunity both coming up with three digs apiece.

Highland will host the Coffeyville Red Ravens on Monday evening in a big conference match up at 5:30PM in the Allen Field House on the campus of Highland Community College.
