The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's soccer team parlayed two second half goals with stingy defense for a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Coffeyville Saturday.
The win evened the Blue Devils' Jayhawk Conference record at 3-3-3, just a game back of third place Dodge City (4-3-2) and in position to upset the balance of power in the conference.
On Tuesday, the Blue Devils host first place Barton (6-0-2) at 7:30 p.m. and then take on second place Cowley (7-2) in Arkansas City Oct. 21. Tuesday's clash with Barton, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, is the final home game for the Blue Devils (4-3-3), who close out regular season play against Garden City in Wichita Oct. 23.
Coffeyville took an early 1-0 lead Saturday before an aggressive second half assault rallied the Blue Devils. Olathe Northwest freshman Noah Conover pulled KCKCC even on an assist from Belton freshman Zach Lattimer early in the second half. Ajay Stewart drilled in the winner on a pass from Aaron Jackson in the final 15 minutes.
Paramount to the win was a Blue Devil defense anchored on the back line by sophomores Geoffroy Letienne and Rory Stenhouse and freshmen Zak Hiles and Nice Mihala.
