Garden City, KS-For the first time this season, Corey Bryant's team was on the defensive, and all the third-year coach could do was watch as Cowley put on an offensive clinic.
Rafael Boaventura scored twice, the Tigers exploded for five goals in the second half, and No. 19 Cowley handed Garden City its first loss of the season, 8-1 Wednesday night at Broncbuster Stadium.
Caique Trivelato's goal 17 minutes into the match, put the Tigers up 1-0. Boaventura followed a little more than 60 seconds later with an unassisted score before rolling a ball past Reece McGlynn off a perfect lead pass from Masaya Sekiguchi to make it 3-0 at the intermission.
It only got worse from there.
Sekiguchi sent a rocket past McGlynn early in the second half, Gabriel Verona and Kristian Eliasen followed with back-to-back scores within a 60-second span, and the Tigers were up, 6-1. Murilo Ramos added a goal in the 82nd minute, and Alfonso Perez chipped in the final blow with less than three minutes to play.
The loss dropped Garden City to 3-1 overall. They travel to Neosho on Saturday.
