
The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens with scores of 13-0 and 11-2 May 3. Sidney Sullivan finished her freshman regular season with a bang as she tallied six RBIs and two home runs while going 4-7 from the plate. The Blue Devils enter post season play as the fourth seed and will take on fifth seed Labette in the 2025 Plains District Tournament opening round.
In the first game, Sullivan had a team-high five RBIs and scored three times from her two home runs and one walk. Kinlei Boley had a home run and a double as she went 2-3 from the plate. Ashton Russell also went 2-3 from the plate while knocking in two RBIs and scoring two runs. As a team, they had eight hits and shut down the Red Ravens to just one hit.
Alyssa Droge went the distance striking out five of the 17 batters she faced. In her last three full games that she's pitched, she's allowed just two hits in 17 innings and struck out 14 batters.
In game two, the 15 Blue Devil hits turned into 11 runs in six innings of play. Sydney Becker went 3-4 from the plate with a home run and double. She also knocked in two RBIs and scored three times. Boley had one double and Lilea Prahm had two hits while bringing in a team-high three RBIs. The first six batters in the lineup brought in at least one RBI and didn't strike out once.
Hanna Acree threw for the opening five innings allowing two runs from five hits. She struck out three of the 20 batters that she faced. Lillian Fisher closed things out in the sixth inning as she allowed just one hit, no runs and struck out one of the four batters that she saw.
The 2025 Plains District Tournament will begin Tuesday for the Blue Devils as they take on (5) Labette at the JCCC softball field in Overland Park, Kan at 1:30 p.m.
