The winless Neosho County Community College women's soccer team was no match for the No. 16-ranked Cowley College Lady Tigers as Cowley blasted the Panthers 8-0 Friday in Arkansas City.
Cowley got a hat-trick from sophomore Leticia Belloni and had goals from six players in the victory.
"I am so happy for Leticia," Cowley head coach Roberto dos Santos said. "She spent most of the preseason with a nagging injury that prevented her from participating fully. The hat-trick by her was well deserved and earned. I am looking forward to seeing her turn things around for the better."
Cowley is now 6-0-1 overall and 5-0 in the Jayhawk Conference Western Division, while Neosho falls to 0-9 overall and 0-7 in the Jayhawk East.
"We were able to play a different line up against Neosho and rest several players," Dos Santos said. "The girls that played did a great job."
Other players to score in Friday's win were, Esther Molly Atwood, Anna Beatriz, Francisca Valenzuela, Shyane Ransom, and Florencia Campodonico.
Cowley will play at Barton Wednesday at 1 p.m. The Cougars are 9-1 overall and 6-1 in the Jayhawk West.
"It will be a tough battle in Great Bend, no doubt," Dos Santos said. "We will look to build on the progress we have made so far and try to upset them at home."
