Tiger tennis teams blast region foe Barton, 9-0
Ranked sixth in both the men’s and women’s national rankings, the Barton Cougars hoped to present a challenge when playing at Cowley College Thursday in Arkansas City.
Ranked sixth in both the men's and women's national rankings, the Barton Cougars hoped to present a challenge when playing at Cowley College Thursday in Arkansas City. However, the Cougars were no match for the top-ranked Tiger men and second-ranked Lady Tigers as the Cowley tennis teams obliterated Barton 9-0.
The Tiger singles and doubles teams did not drop a set as they have won a combined 14 matches in a row.
"Excellent performance from both men and women," Cowley head coach Manuel Raga said. "We have been working hard and it is paying off now. Literally, everyone in both the men's and women's teams is playing really good tennis."
The Tiger tennis teams will play at Pratt Community College at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 16, in their final tune-up before the Region VI Tournament. The Pratt men are ranked 12th, and the women are ranked 21st.
