JCCC softball advances with 9-1 win over Allen

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County softball team scored seven runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to post a 9-1 run-rule victor over Allen in the second round of the Region 6 Division II Tournament Thursday afternoon at the JCCC Softball Complex.

The Cavaliers opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first off doubles from Reagan Neitzel and Maddie Murray.

In the top of the third, the Red Devils loaded the bases with no outs, but sophomore right-hander Jalin Lavers managed to get out the innings allowing just one run. Lavers allowed just two hits, walked five and struck out five to up her season mark to 15-5

Johnson County pulled away in the lower half of the inning plating four runs.

Murray finished the game going 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI. Neitzel was 2-for-3 with two RBI.  Lily Hans had two hits and Haley Bryant and Janelle Lang each drove in a run.

Johnson County will face Kansas City Kansas on Friday, May 9 at 11 a.m., with the winner advancing to the championship.
