
The Labette Community College Cardinals used a fast paced first half to take down the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds by the score of 88-44 on Saturday from Arnold Arena. The Cardinals shot 58% from the field in the first half, including 9/19 (47%) from three-point range. The Cardinals also controlled the boards, collecting 21 in the first half to the Hounds 12. The Greyhounds worked hard to get some good shots, but they couldn't get anything to fall. In the first half the Hounds only shot 28% from the floor and were 0/4 from three-point range. The Cardinals led at the half by the score of 52-15.
The second half saw the Hounds continue to fight and the shots started dropping. Freshman Shayla Golden led the Hounds attack scoring 13 points and collecting 16 rebounds. "We kept fighting and will learn from this game. We can with the best teams in our conference, and Labette is certainly a top team. I'm proud we were able to put some plays together in the second half and will hope to improve each week of conference play."
The Cardinals were led by Hunter who scored 15 points and collected 14 rebounds. The Hounds will continue their conference schedule when they travel to Iola to face the Allen County Red Devils on Wednesday at 5:30pm.
