
Men's Basketball Win Over Cloud County
Fort Hays Tech Men’s Basketball secured their third consecutive win on Saturday, dominating the Cloud County Thunderbirds 81-59.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 14-7 lead by the 13-minute mark. Although Cloud County made a brief push to close the gap, Tech quickly answered, extending their advantage to 23-12, forcing the Thunderbirds to call a timeout. However, the Tigers would continue to maintain their double-digit lead, going into halftime with the score at 38-26.
In the second half, the Tigers continued to maintain control of the game, with the score at 50-37 just past the 14-minute mark. Cloud continued to struggle to find their rhythm, as their cold streak shooting the basketball continued. The Tigers would eventually extend their lead to as much as 28 points, going up 75-47 with 4:49 remaining. Cloud managed an 8-0 run to briefly trim the deficit, prompting a lineup change from Tech. However, the Tigers quickly regained control, closing out the game with an 81-59 victory.
The Tigers would have the three players in double figures, with much of the scoring spread around the bench. Idris Williams and John Troolin would lead the way in scoring with 15 points, while Idris additionally pulled in 13 rebounds for a double-double.
Fort Hays Tech will return to action on Wednesday, February 5th, when they face off against the #9 ranked Cowley Tigers.
