Vann continues to roll in Lady Tigers’ 8-0 win over Highland
Top-seeded Cowley College softball team defeated eighth-seed Highland Community College 8-0 on Tuesday in the First-Round of the Region VI Tournament.
Getting six shutout innings from sophomore Mikah Vann and a pair of doubles from freshman Taverli Tennant, the top-seeded Cowley College softball team defeated eighth-seed Highland Community College 8-0 on Tuesday in the First-Round of the Region VI Tournament played in Overland Park, KS.
Cowley, winners of seven games in a row and 16 of its past 17, is now 39-12. The Lady Tigers advance to play Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the second round of the Region VI Tournament.
Highland, losers of six games in a row, is now 17-25. The Scotties will play in an elimination game on Wednesday.
Vann struck out seven and allowed only two hits while improving her record to 22-5. Ezra Arredondo also played well, finishing with three of Cowley's 12 hits.
The winner of Cowley's second round matchup will advance to Thursday's semifinals at 4 p.m.
