Top-10 track and field teams compete at Pittsburg State Invite
With the Cowley College women’s track and field team ranked eighth nationally and the Tiger men ranked 10th, the teams had a chance to compete Saturday at the Pittsburg State University Invite. Both teams had two national qualifiers, while the Tiger men also had a pair of event winners.

Cowley head coach Mark Phillips was pleased with his athletes' performances.
"The athletes competed very well. Even those who didn't qualify for nationals competed well," Phillips said. "We were very proud of our team and the way they competed."
On the men's side, sophomore Adrian Diaz-Lopez and freshman Amos Pkiach each qualified for nationals in the 5,000-meter run. Also doing well were Kolby Caster and Dawson Crawley, who won the men's pole vault and 1,000-meter run, respectively.
The Lady Tigers were led by national qualifying performances from sophomore Zinara Lesley in the 1,000 meter run, and sophomore Lubna Suied in the 5,000 meter run.
Up next for the Tiger track and field teams is a Hybrid meet hosted Saturday in Arkansas City.
Cowley will then return to Pittsburg, KS on February 12-13 when they take part in the Pittsburg State University Gorilla Classic.
