Softball: Raiders Split with Scotties

Central Softball went to Highland Community College for a pair of road games on Tuesday, April 8th, a recap of the games is below:

Game 1: Central 2 Vs. Highland 12

CCC was able to get out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the hot bats started early for Highland allowing them to answer with five runs in the bottom, making it a 5-1 lead for Highland at the end of the first. The Scotties added 5 more runs in the second as well, giving them a comfortable lead to coast to a 12-2 Highland win. Braelyn Sindelar started in the circle, pitching one inning and allowing five runs on five hits. Shayla Sullivan pitched relief and allowed seven hits in three innings. Sullivan, Kami Kaskie, and Ava Steinke all collected one hit, with Stienke and Hannah Dahlke both collecting one RBI.

Game 2: Central 10 Vs. Highland 2

The Raiders jumped out to the lead in the top of the third inning after Steinke singled, scoring one run, Haley Johnson drew a walk, scoring one run, Danica Taylor singled, scoring one run, and Jordyn Sheridan singled, scoring two runs. Highland Scotties Softball scored two runs in the bottom of the third on a home run. This HR did not deter the Raiders and they powered through to a 10-2 win. Sullivan started in the circle here, only allowing four hits in five innings giving her the win. The Raiders had 16 team hits. Some notables were Sheridan with four RBIs, Steinke and Delaney Reeg each collected three hits. Jordyn Trotta and Taylor both had two hit games as well.
