Tiger track and field teams place second in the conference and fourth in the region
Finishing just behind Fort Scott Community College in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division, the Cowley College men and women’s outdoor track and field teams placed second in the conference and fourth in the region at the Jayhawk Conference/Region Championships held Thursday through Saturday in Arkansas City, KS.

The No. 11-ranked Cowley College women had its streak of back-to-back outdoor conference titles come to an end as they finished 10 points in back of Fort Scott (190-180).
The No. 8-ranked Tiger men finished in second place in the conference for a fourth straight year as they were edged out by conference champion Fort Scott by two points (224-222).
The Tiger men and women's outdoor track and field teams each finished fourth in the region with the Barton County (178 points) men and Cloud County (178 points) women taking home region titles.
The Cowley women were led by sophomore Lubna Suied, who finished as the conference and region champion in three events. Suied placed first in the 1,500-meter, 5,000-meter, and 10,000-meter runs. Suied won every event she competed in and broke the school record in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:43.34.
The Tiger men were led by Adrian Diaz-Lopez finishing as the conference and region champion in the 1,500-meter run, and Kolby Caster finishing as conference and region champion in the pole vault.
Sophomore Jack Mull also performed well and was the conference champion in the decathlon.
Coach Cameron Rieth was named the Outdoor Men's Track and Field Assistant Coach of year and Mark Phillips was named Outdoor Men's Track and Field Head Coach of the Year.
"We are very proud of everyone who competed, they did everything they could to help us try and win the Jayhawk East," Phillips said.
The Cowley men and women's track and field teams will compete at the Wichita State University Shocker Open Friday at 1:30 p.m.
