Game 1 Recap - Colby, KS
On April 18, 2025, Colby Community College hosted Seward County Community College on their Sophomore Day. This intense softball matchup saw the Trojans secure a 9-7 victory. The game was a rollercoaster of scoring that kept both teams on their toes until the final inning.
Colby quickly responded to Sewards' two runs in the first inning with a run of their own. The second inning saw Colby surge ahead, scoring three runs to take a 4-2 lead. Seward County managed to tie the game in the third inning with two more runs, but Colby answered back with two runs of their own, maintaining their lead at 6-4.
The Trojans managed to fight off a run made in the fifth inning by the Saints to regain the lead in the same inning, scoring two runs and adding another in the sixth inning to secure the win.
Colby's offensive strength was evident throughout the game, with contributions from several players. Mia Rauzi, Tess Polad, and Reese Ardohain each hit home runs, while Tiffani Mein drove in three crucial RBIs. The team collectively amassed 11 hits, showcasing their depth and versatility at the plate.
On the pitching side, Mia Rauzi started strong, allowing four runs over 4.1 innings while striking out four. Amia Alexander and Katelyn Zukewich provided relief, with Zukewich closing out the game without allowing any runs in the final inning.

In game 2, the Trojans showcased their prowess on the diamond with an overwhelming 11-2 victory over the Saints.
Colby Community College quickly retaliated, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first after a quick jump ahead by Seward. This set the tone for the rest of the game.
Colby's offensive onslaught was led by standout performances from Sofia Valenti, Brooklynn Ekker, and Bailey Jackson, each contributing a home run to the scoreboard. Valenti, Ekker, and Jackson were also responsible for driving in three runs apiece, showcasing their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. Tess Polad added to the mix with a triple and an RBI, further extending their lead.
Pitching was another strong suit for Colby, with Alana Proskow delivering a solid four innings, allowing only four hits and two earned runs while striking out two. Giovana Carrillo closed the game with a flawless inning, maintaining the pressure on Seward County's batters.

On April 21, 2025, Colby Community College lost 9-4 in game one of the day.
Colby struggled to mount a significant comeback after Seward scored four runs early. Despite a two-run effort in the third inning, Colby was unable to close the gap, largely due to Seward County's consistent scoring and solid defense.
Two of the Trojans' players were very notable. Paige Pierce drove in two runs with two hits, and Bailey Jackson also added two RBIs, but the team struggled with three fielding errors, which proved costly.
Colby pitched two girls in the game. Katelyn Zukewich took the loss, giving up six runs (two earned) in two innings, while Alana Proskow pitched four innings, allowing three runs.
Colby looked to address their defensive shortcomings to bounce back in the next game. Despite the loss, the Trojans showed moments of promise, particularly in their third-inning rally, which they can build upon moving forward.
Game 4 Recap - Liberal, KS
In game four, the Trojans were in a very close matchup but just fell short with a final score of 2-1. The game was a testament to both teams' defensive prowess and strategic play.
Colby scored their only run of the game in the seventh inning. Kinleigh Haskell, who had a standout performance with two hits, managed to cross the plate, but it was not enough to overcome Seward County's lead.
On the mound for Colby, Jacee Hammon and Amia Alexander combined efforts, with Hammon pitching 4.2 innings and allowing just one earned run. Despite their solid performances, the Colby pitchers were unable to suppress Seward County's timely hitting.
