Blue Devils Fall in Mid-Week Matchup

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team fell to the State Fair Community College Roadrunners 14-9 on April 8 at the KCKCC baseball field. The Blue Devils have now lost three in a row and 4-6 in their last 10 games.

State Fair out hit the Blue Devils 13 to 10 and didn't allow a single error. Though the loss, Braden Horn shined bright as he went 3-4 at the plate and scored three of the four times that he got on base. Sawyer Tolk had a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning and Freddie Nolen IV also had a solo shot over the fence. Frankie Santiago, Cade Parry and Horn all had doubles as they combined for five hits and three RBIs. Spenser Smock had two hits and brought in two base runners. 

There were six Blue Devil pitchers who saw action against the Roadrunners. Tanner Warner started and allowed four runs, two earned, from one hit and three walks in his 1.1 innings of work. Weston Fries came in and recorded the loss as he allowed four runs, four earned, from five hits and two walks. Carter Beach threw for 2.2 innings and allowed three runs from three hits while striking out three of the 14 batters he faced. Avery Oravetz and James Dulle combined for 0.2 innings of work while allowing one hit and three runs with no strikeouts. Sebastian Udland threw for the final 2.1 innings and allowed just one hit and struck out two.

The next series for the Blue Devils is against the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. April 10 at the KCKCC baseball field.
