Garden City, KS-First-year Garden City Head Coach, Oscar Zelaya continuously talks about changing the culture. And while his team fell short on Saturday, it was still a step in a positive direction.
The Broncbusters held sixth-ranked Cowley scoreless for the first 41 minutes before Andre Ecker broke the draw late in the first half, helping the Tigers beat Garden City, 3-0 at Broncbuster Stadium.
Garden City, which dropped to 2-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference, withstood a physical Cowley attack, one that produced 16 shots to the Broncbusters seven. The game also saw seven yellow cards handed out.
Eckler's unassisted goal in the 41st minute put Cowley on top for good. But the Broncbusters had their chances.
With an opportunity to tie, Joaquin Iturra's line-drive shot in the 61st minute was knocked away by keeper, Kamy Ndione.
Cowley made Garden City pay after that.
Sota Nakazono's perfect corner kick setup Guilherme Coutinho, who headed the ball past ilham Brenbraham to make it 2-0 in the 67th minute. The Tigers then put the match away with a goal by Keitatsu Yoshida less than four minutes later.
