GOODLAND, Kan. – It was all Grizzlies on Sunday afternoon at the Tiger Softball Complex as No. 17-ranked Butler defeated Fort Hays Tech Northwest 15-0 and 19-1 in two five inning run rules.
Butler (30-6, 19-5) reached the 30-win milestone for the 14th consecutive season (excluding 2020 covid shortened season). The Tigers (0-36, 0-26) remain winless.
Butler used eight runs in the second inning of game one to cruise to the 15-0 win. Maggie Grant (W, 1-0) tossed 5.0 scoreless innings allowing three hits, striking out two and walking one. Five Grizzlies had multiple hits with Emillee Stofferahn driving in four runs and Caylee Mann driving in a team-high five.
Game two saw the Grizzlies score 11 runs across the first two innings eventually out-hitting FHTNW 22-4 and winning 19-1 in five innings. Stofferahn threw all 5.0 innings striking out five and walking none on three hits. Eight Grizzlies had multiple hits in the game.
