GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Johnson County Community College (JCCC) Cavaliers are still alive in their quest for a national title after pulling off a dramatic 14-13 comeback win over Eastern Oklahoma State College in an elimination game at the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series.

Trailing 11-7 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Cavaliers rallied with four runs to even the score. Sophomore outfielder Ryker Edwards delivered a clutch three-run home run to tie the game. In the eighth, JCCC tacked on three more runs, highlighted by Edwards again — this time with a two-run single, capping off a five-RBI performance.

Sophomore catcher Miken Miller also came up big, going 3-for-3 with a three-run homer in the third inning and scoring three times. His five RBIs tied a team record for a World Series game, and his three runs scored tied the second-most ever by a JCCC player at the tournament.

The Cavaliers showed their power throughout, with solo shots from freshman Boston Bruce and sophomore Carter Kelley. Leadoff hitter Jake McClure contributed by drawing four walks — tying another team record — and scoring two runs.

Despite being outhit 13-11 and allowing four home runs from the Mountaineers, JCCC's bullpen held firm when it mattered most. After Eastern Oklahoma State closed the gap to 14-13 in the ninth, freshman Jackson Downing was called upon to shut the door. He allowed one walk but no runs, securing the save and keeping JCCC's season alive.

Freshman Christian Bobzin picked up the win with a scoreless inning of relief, while starter Denton Biller struck out six over 3.1 innings.

With the win, Johnson County advances to another elimination matchup on Monday at 2 p.m. CST, where they will face either defending national champion Blinn College or Florida SouthWestern State College.
