Garden City, KS-What a monumental way to earn their first conference win of the season.
Jaden Grant scored his team-leading fourth goal, Adrian Campbell had three assists, and Garden City beat Kansas City (RV), 3-1 Wednesday afternoon at Broncbuster Stadium.
In a match that saw only 14 combined shots, Garden City (5-3-2, 1-3-2) went on the attack early. Campbell pushed the ball all the way to the endline before crossing into the box to a streaking Joaquin Iturra, who easily banged it home past Pierre-Jean Dannenmuller in the ninth minute for a 1-0 advantage.
The Broncbusters struck again less than six minutes later when Campbell knifed through five Kansas City defenders before slipping the ball into the box where Grant tapped it in for a 2-0 lead.
Garden City added to their tally 11 minutes into the second half when, following a Kanas City foul, Campbell sprinted down the right sideline. After a slight hesitation, he dropped a pinpoint pass across the field to Joao Weber Vitor, who smashed the ball past a diving Dannenmuller.
The Broncbusters outshot the Red Devils (8-6), who received votes in the latest NJCAA rankings released on Monday. Ilham Brenbraham recorded three saves.
David Mayamona scored in the 81st minute for Kansas City, which dropped to 3-1-2 overall and 3-1-1 in league play.
