The Dominance Continues

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds with scores of 12-0 and 8-1 April 8. With the sweep, the Blue Devils have now won 15 consecutive games with a big test coming up on Thursday as they take on Johnson County.

In the first game, the Blue Devils scored all 12 runs in the first inning. As a team, they recorded just five hits as a team and had one error. Kloey Dawes went 1-2 at the plate and got walked once as she had a triple, three RBIs and scored twice. Victoria England went 1-1 at the plate recording her first double of the season. Sidney Sullivan had two RBIs as she went 1-3 from the plate and was walked once.

Alyssa Droge went the distance and allowed just one Greyhound hit. She walked one and struck out nine of the 18 batters she faced.

In game two, KCKCC took a bit to get going as they trailed Moberly Area 1-0 early on. After the second inning, the Blue Devils scored at least one run in every inning until the seventh inning. Ashton Russell hit her fourth homer of the season as she went 1-3 from the plate but walked once. She also scored both times that she got on base. Both Kinlei Boley and Dawes had two-hit games, and they combined for two RBIs and two runs. Sullivan had a triple and a double while knocking in one run and scoring once. Sydney Becker and Boley both recorded a double and Becker scored two times.

Hanna Acree started the game and threw for 1.1 innings while letting up one run from two hits and two walks. Boley entered in the second inning and went until the end of the fifth inning as she allowed just one hit, four walks and five strikeouts. Droge finished the game out, allowing only three hits and no runs.

The next series for the Blue Devils is April 10 when they take on JCCC in a KJCCC top two matchup. Games are at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the JCCC softball field in Overland Park, Kan.
