Freshman Caique Trivelato made sure the No. 15-ranked Cowley College men's soccer team remained unbeaten by scoring four goals in the Tigers 4-1 win over Dodge City Wednesday at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, KS.
Trivelato scored a pair of first half goals as the Tigers went into halftime with a 2-0 advantage. The Conquistadors would pull within 2-1 following a goal by Yanis Andale Smeg with 33:17 remaining.
However, less than four minutes later, Trivelato completed the hat-trick. He would add a fourth goal 10 minutes later and now has seven goals in five games.
"Caique was in the right place at the right time," Cowley head coach Ruy Vaz said.
In its five games, Cowley has got goals from seven players.
"It is nice having several guys that can score. We knew Dodge City would be tough because they play a similar style to us. So, when hard work is not enough talent is needed. We did a good job of dominating the game at the right moments."
Leonardo Palmieri assisted on two of Trivelato's goals, while Takeru Moriyama added another assist.
"Takeru and Masaya Sekiguchi ran the midfield," Vaz said. "Their effort is remarkable."
Cowley is now 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Jayhawk Conference Western Division, while Dodge City falls to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Tigers will put their unbeaten record to the test when they play at Johnson County (4-1) Saturday at 4 p.m.
"They will pose a big challenge for us, especially with playing on the road," Vaz said. "We don't need to be concerned with our record, we just need to keep going."
