KJCCC Announces Baseball All-KJCCC East Division Honors
2025 All-KJCCC East Division Baseball Teams
COLBY, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has announced the 2025 All-KJCCC East Division Baseball teams and winners of the major postseason honors. The awards, which were voted on by each of the league head coaches, include five individuals from four different conference institutions bringing home major accolades.
Major award winners from the 2025 regular season are Most Valuable Player Bo Shinkle of Johnson County, Pitcher of the Year Kyler Zagar of Cowley College, Freshman of the Year Maverick Williamson of Neosho County, and Co-Coaches of the Year Eric Horner (Johnson County) and Jake Martin (Coffeyville).
Most Valuable Player: Bo Shinkle (Johnson County)
One of only four players from the KJCCC East Division to record a batting average above .400 this season, Shinkle did a little bit of everything for Johnson County this season by scoring a league-high 79 runs to go along with 72 hits (fourth) with 12 doubles, five triples, and six home runs to drive in 56 runs. The sophomore drew a league-best 42 walks and stole 32 bases which ranked second in the KJCCC and had an on-base percentage of .517. Defensively, Shinkle has a perfect fielding percentage in 69 total chances which included 41 putouts in conference games.
Pitcher of the Year: Kyler Zagar (Cowley)
Posting a 6-1 record in conference play with 47 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched, Zagar was electric throughout the season on the mound as the freshman finished tied for the conference lead in pitching wins in conference play led the KJCCC during conference games with a 1.98 earned run average. Recording six outings in the regular season with at least five strikeouts, Zagar struck out a career-best 10 against Highland on April 17th and had a 4.29 strikeout-to-walk ratio this season.
Freshman of the Year: Maverick Williamson (Neosho County)
The league leader in RBI this season (74), Williamson made his presence known in his first collegiate season by hitting .359 with a league-best 21 home runs while striking out only 39 times in 192 at-bats. Williamson’s 69 hits ranked fifth in the league with 40 hits coming during conference play while also recording an on-base percentage of .425 and a .755 slugging percentage. Recording 15 multi-hit games and having at least one hit in 43 of 55 games played, Williamson also drew 17 walks and was hit by a pitch eight times.
Co-Coach of the Year: Eric Horner (Johnson County)
Horner led the Cavaliers to a third-consecutive KJCCC Baseball East Division title after going 45-11 in the regular season with a 27-5 mark in division play while winning seven of eight conference series. Of the seven series victories for JCCC in conference play, five came by sweep over division foes with JCCC outscoring opponents 292-108. Eight conference victories came in run-rule fashion with three Cavalier players hitting over .400 in conference play as Johnson County led all KJCCC schools in conference play in shutouts (five), stolen bases (75), and ranked third in hits (343).
Co-Coach of the Year: Jake Martin (Coffeyville)
Martin led Coffeyville to a top-four finish in the KJCCC East Division for the first time since 2015 as the Red Ravens finished tied for third in the division with a 19-13 conference mark and 32-18 overall record. Leading Coffeyville to a 22-7 mark in home games and a 10-11 mark in games played away from home, the Red Ravens hit .326 as a team in the regular season (36th-best nationally) and the 43rd most doubles (106) of all NJCAA Division 1 baseball teams.
