Latest NJCAA Baseball Rankings See Four KJCCC Teams Ranked Inside Top 25
NJCAA Division 1 Baseball Week 9 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – With just two weeks remaining before postseason play, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference continues to have its division leading teams ranked in the latest NJCAA Division 1 Baseball top 25 polls with four conference schools ranked in the week nine poll released on Monday, April 21st.
Included in the group of teams from the KJCCC ranked this week is Cowley College, Johnson County Community College, Barton Community College, and Cloud County Community College as all four remain ranked for a second—straight week.
Mixed movement from the group sees two of the four teams move up in the poll while the other two saw minor drops with Cowley continuing to lead the group by holding the number five ranking after being ranked number four last week. The Tigers bounced back from a non-conference defeat to Barton in mid-week action by sweeping Highland in conference play to close out the week and will have a full week of non-conference action ahead of them with five games on the schedule for the coming week. Picking up three non-conference wins last week, Johnson County improves one spot up to eighth as the Cavaliers took care of business against Metropolitan Community College and Dodge City and will take an 11-game winning streak into a Monday doubleheader with Baker JV. JCCC will then take on Coffeyville in a four-game conference series as the Cavaliers are four games back in the win column of Cowley in the conference standings.
As for KJCCC West Division schools, Barton made a two-spot improvement up to 17th after earning five wins last week to extend their winning streak to 18 consecutive games with the last defeat coming against Butler on March 27th. The Cougars will play a non-conference game against McPherson JV on Monday afternoon before closing out KJCCC West Division play this weekend with a four-game series against Dodge City. After re-entering the rankings for the second time this season, Cloud County extended their winning streak to 11 straight games to pick up a series win over Butler before dropping the series finale to end the week with a 3-1 record as the T-Birds fall one spot to 24th this week.
