KJCCC Nets Four College Sports Communicators College Division Women's At-Large All-Americans
AUSTIN, Texas - Four student-athletes from two Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference institutions have earned the most prestigious academic award given out for the 2024-25 academic year by being named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) College Division Academic All-America Women’s At-Large Teams.
The four honorees are among just 20 total female student-athletes from the College Division (Two-Year Colleges, Canadian Institutions, and any other institution not affiliated with the NCAA or NAIA) as Johnson County’s Emily Crosby, Montana-Rose Currey, and Aspen Burgardt along with Dodge City’s Gaemphuang Ketrahong all earned this year’s distinction. Crosby earned the accolade of being named the CSC’s College Division Women’s Academic All-American of the Year after finishing the year with a 4.0 GPA.
To be considered for the honor, student-athletes must be submitted by their SID (or communications liaison) for the CSC Academic All-District honors and then move on to the voting for the All-American honors. The student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or better, must be a sophomore academically and athletically, and have competed in 90% of the team's competitions.
Crosby and Currey were defensive anchors for the Cavaliers women's soccer team. Crosby was a consensus All-American, earning first-team by both the NJCAA and United Soccer Coaches. She also garnered Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and Region 6 Division II first-team selections and was voted KJCCC D-II Defensive Player of the Year.
Currey was tabbed as a second-team All-American by the NJCAA. She was also a second-team All-America selection her freshman year, making her just the second player in team history and first defender to be named All-American as a freshman and sophomore. Currey was also named All-KJCCC and Region 6 first-team twice, and in 2023 was selected the KJCCC D-II Defensive Player of the Year. Currey also helped on the offensive end, adding five goals and five assists for 15 points in 2024 and five goals with one assist in 2023.
The two defensive standouts helped lead JCCC to a 19-1-4 record, a national runner-up finish, and a defense that ranked among the best in the country with 18 shutouts and a 0.41 goals-against average.
Burgardt, who was the NJCAA D-II National Player of the Year her freshman year, was selected All-KJCCC and Region 6 D-II first-team as a sophomore. She batted .432 (57-for-132) while helping lead the Cavaliers to a Region 6 Championship and fifth-place finish at the NJCAA D-II World Series. Burgardt produced 24 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 29 walks, 45 runs and 48 RBI. She had 16 multiple-hit and 12 multiple-RBI games.
Ketrahong capped her two-year career as a Conquistador with a great finish at the NJCAA Division I National Championship as she posted a four-round score of 298 (+10) to earn fourth place, matching the best individual finish at nationals in program history while also earning her first team NJCAA All-American honors. The Thailand native helped the team claim a seventh-place finish at nationals for the second straight year, along with sweeping the KJCCC, Region 6, and Plains District titles for the second straight year. During the 2024-25 season, Ketrahong won four tournaments, including claiming the Region 6 and Plains District individual titles. She finishes her Conq career with seven career wins and 19 Top 10 individual finishes and earned KJCCC All-Conference honors twice. In the classroom, she finished with a 3.95 GPA in two years at Dodge City and was awarded Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar twice.
Ketrahong is the first female Dodge City athlete to earn CSC Academic All-American honors and the third athlete overall to earn the distinction.
