LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County Community College has named Austin Downing its new Head Men's Basketball Coach. 

Downing joins the Saint family from Barton Community College, where in three years as an assistant coach, coached in two national tournaments, including a National Championship for the 2023-2024 season. As an assistant coach with the Cougars, Downing helped Barton to an overall record of 86-19 and a 59-15 mark in the Jayhawk conference. 

Downing, an Atchison, Kansas native, started his playing career at Neosho Community College, finishing in the Top 20 on the all-time scoring list. From Neosho, he would go on to play at NCAA Division 2 Quincy University and finish his college career back in Kansas with Emporia State University, earning All-MIAA honors.

The Saints are excited to welcome Austin Downing and his family to Liberal and Seward County.
