CHARLOTTE, NC – Two Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference men’s basketball teams have officially been selected for the 2025 NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball National Tournament as both Johnson County Community College and Kansas City Kansas Community College will continue their seasons next week in Danville, Illinois.
Winners of the NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Men’s Basketball Tournament and automatic berth into the NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament, Kansas City Kansas Community College has received the number 14 seed in the 20-team tournament after qualifying for the tournament for the first time since 2020 when the National Tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Blue Devils will play in game three on the opening day of the tournament on Monday, March 17th, against 19th seeded Raritan Valley Community College, who won the East District B Title over Monroe Community College to represent Region 19 in the National Tournament.
After falling in the NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Men’s Basketball Tournament title game, Johnson County received one of four at-large berths into the National Tournament and received the number 11 seed to set up a matchup with number six seed Macomb Community College. The Cavaliers are making their fourth appearance in the National Tournament in the past five years and will face off against the Monarchs for only the second time in program history, with the first matchup coming last season at the National Tournament and resulting in an 88-77 win for Macomb.
Other teams on the same side of the bracket as Johnson County and Kansas City Kansas include number two-seed North Central Missouri College, three-seed Kirkwood Community College, seventh-seeded Kalamazoo Valley, 10-seed Bryant & Stratton (Wisconsin), 15-seed Orange County, and 18-seed Milwaukee Area Tech. If both the Cavaliers and the Blue Devils advanced to the quarterfinal round, an NJCAA Region 6 Tournament Championship game rematch would take place at 8 PM on Wednesday, March 19th, with a final four berth at stake.
All games of the 2025 NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball National Tournament will take place at the Mary Miller Center on the campus of Danville Community College in Danville, Illinois, and will be streamed live on the NJCAA Network (www.njcaa.org/network).
