COLBY, Kan. – Securing the number two seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region 6 Division 1 Men’s Soccer Tournament with two road wins last week, Barton Community College men’s soccer players Hugo Pacheco and Gabriel Bergamin have earned the final Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.  

Hugo Pacheco (Barton) – Hugo Pacheco was on both sides of Barton's scoring this week creating the game-winning goal before assisting to the game-winning goal in the Cougars’ perfect 2-0 week. The sophomore midfielder opened the week posting his first collegiate game-winner with a 12-yard left-footed far post strike in the Cougars 3-1 win at Garden City. Pacheco finished his week helping Barton secure a conference runner-up finish starting a string of pinpoint passing to produce the game-winning goal in a 2-0 road win over Seward County.

Gabriel Bergamin (Barton) – Barton freshman Gabriel Bergamin had an exceptional week out on the road, helping the Cougars to a perfect 2-0 week. For the week, Bergamin made saves on 13 of 14 shot attempts faced for a .929 save percentage. Bergamin started his solid week by denying five of six shots faced in a 3-1 victory at Garden City. Capping the week with a 2-0 victory at Seward County, Bergamin held strong in net despite the Cougars playing a man down for 48 minutes and falling two men down for the final 5:55 denying all eight shots to post his third shutout of the season.
